Tracing the life of activist Costis Achniotis, the film develops within the history of the Cypriot radical Left and the bicommunal movement for reunification. In parallel quests between the past and present and with an auto-ethnographic approach, the filmmakers bring together personal artifacts, new and archival material, exploring the dialectics and poetics of the ethnic clash and division in Cyprus.

This book explores the basic dynamics that shaped the Cyprus problem, with a focus on recent decades. It approaches Cyprus’ division in light of power relations in society, the interaction between the political elite and society, and discuss the political and ideological dynamics as manifested in the public sphere. While analysing primarily the Greek Cypriot community, the book also refers to parallel developments in the Turkish Cypriot and international communities.

Women are on the front lines of climate change as they are impacted first and worst, so it is not surprising that they are on the front lines of the fight against it. Around the world it is prominently women who are standing up for their communities, land, water, forests and biodiversity. This is also the case in Cyprus, where strong female activists led the way in the struggle for environmental justice.

The environment is considered to be an element which holds an enhanced peacebuilding potential as well as potential to exacerbate conflict. This report revisits the concept of the environment and its peace-building potential through historical learning on the island of Cyprus and aims at finding sustainable linkages that can assist in environmental protection and foster meaningful cooperation across the divide.
