War and militarism often go hand in hand with the exploitation of natural resources for profit. In the case of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, we see how capitalist profit and imperialist interests lead to a militarization of land, sea, and people. A clear example of this has been the use of the island to support the Zionist genocide in Palestine and the increasing authoritarian measures against people who organize for a different system.

In Gabes, Tunisia, communities organized a general strike with 100% participation on 21st October 2025, mobilizing hundreds of thousands. It was a historic day in their fight for dignity, land, and life – rooted in lived experience. This movement defends land and memory, challenges exploitation, and fights for a future where life matters more than profit.
